Photogrammetry - Colonial House on Saw Mill Road

When I first moved to this area, 21 years ago, Saw Mill Road quickly became one of my favorite roads to ride back from the Delaware River on. Tree covered provided protection from the sun. The beautiful estates with manicured lawns provided scenery. And, this lonesome neglected house always made me daydream about what this area was like during colonial times. If you want to look it up you will find it at these coordinates: 40.375295, -75.062245.

Photogrammetry - The Modeling of The Milk House Market Barn

The Milk House Market has multiple buildings on their land one of which is a barn. Today I set out to model the barn as show you some of the steps involved when modeling. Photogrammetry -First Test of a City Block

My goal is to create a digital twin of Doylestown, PA. I have slowly been working up from making models of cameras, to bridges, to barns. This is my first attempt at a city block. Photogrammetry -Martynuik Barn

This barn belongs to Dave Martynuik and is located in Pipersville, PA. This model is my largest to date. It is composed from 310 pictures that rendered 164,998,586 pixel data points. The image below depicts the location of the camera at the time each picture that composes the picture was taken. As you can see from the picture when a picture is taken I capture the latitude, longitude, altitude, and bearing of the camera. The image the camera takes stores the picture data as pixels. The pixels store an x and y location within the image, Red, Green, and Blue color values, as well as light intensity data stored as an alpha value.

Photogrammetry

I have been working on my photogrammetry setup and skills. This is what I consider to be my first successful dense mesh clouds of an old camera I had in my office. Next will be to attempt drone based image captures and photogrammetry to reconstruct some of the old covered bridges in Bucks County.

The Bridges of Point Pleasant Pennsylvania

I know this isn’t like traveling to a distant location but it is a location I cycle through often and every time I do the empty bridge pilings standing in the middle of the river make me think about the history of this location. So I started researching it and found many interesting facts that I placed on the timeline. For example people have lived in this location and needed to cross the river since 1793. That is before The United States where The United States. That is 50 years before our first President. The Delaware and Raritan Canal was built before any permanent bridges where in this area. The bridge standing over Geddes Run was the longest lasting bridge in the area, standing for over 105 yrs. If you click on the image below you can seem zoom in to see the details.

Building My Own Focusing Rails

I have always enjoyed photography in general but as my experience grow, I started to want to explore more specialized niches within photography. Macrophotography specifically for the purpose of archiving, product photography, biological (insect and plant) photography is where I want to start exploring. If you too are interested in this type of photography you will quickly learn that the biggest challenge with this type of photography is shallow depth of field you have when shooting at such a small scale. This is how I am overcoming that.
