Photogrammetry -First Test of a City Block

My goal is to create a digital twin of Doylestown, PA. I have slowly been working up from making models of cameras, to bridges, to barns. This is my first attempt at a city block. I can increase the details but that would have dramatically impacted my processing time. This was created from 103 pictures and on a medium detail setting, which took 20 minutes to process. If I use all 410 pictures and high setting it will take over 9 days to process the detailed model. For a test this turned out pretty good.

If you are not familiar with what a digital twin is a digital twin of a city is a virtual representation of a physical city that can be used for a variety of purposes, including planning, analysis, and simulation. Some potential advantages of developing a digital twin of a city include:

  1. Improved decision-making: A digital twin can be used to simulate different scenarios and evaluate the potential impacts of different decisions on a city's infrastructure, economy, and quality of life. This can help city officials make more informed decisions about how to allocate resources and address challenges.

  2. Enhanced planning: A digital twin can be used to plan and design new developments, such as transportation systems or buildings, in a way that takes into account the needs and characteristics of the surrounding city.

  3. Better management: A digital twin can help city officials monitor and manage the city's infrastructure and services more effectively by providing real-time data and analytics. This can help to identify and address problems before they become major issues.

  4. Improved communication: A digital twin can be a powerful tool for communicating complex ideas and plans to a wide audience, including city officials, residents, and stakeholders.

  5. Increased efficiency: By simulating and analyzing different scenarios, a digital twin can help city officials identify more efficient and effective ways of managing and operating the city, leading to cost savings and improved resource utilization.
