That is a lot of roads

If you live in Pennsylvania and Winter is coming it is easy to start complaining about the inevitable maze of pothole that is soon to arise on our beloved road system.  Potholes are just a part of life in the Winter and early Spring.  The smaller pothole jars us awake during our morning drive.  The more serious potholes have been known to occasionally total a car.  Before we are quick to point fingers at the road crews it is import to understand just how large their job is.

The road network in just Bucks County Pennsylvania consists of 4312 miles of pavement broken down into 36,269 roads that crisscrosses the countryside.  This intertwined network creates a total of 137,977 intersections all of which have traffic control lights and/or signage that need to be maintained.  That is a large job.
