Uncovering Opportunities: Optimizing Sales in the World of Pickleball

At Absorb The Net, we pride ourselves on our ability to turn raw data into meaningful insights that drive businesses forward. In our latest project, we were approached by a client seeking a comprehensive analysis of pickleball venues across the United States. They wanted us to create a geospatial map that highlighted the number of courts in each venue, along with their addresses and phone numbers. Armed with this information, our client hoped to devise a regional sales plan that would maximize their market reach and ensure equal opportunities for their sales representatives.

Step 1: Defining Territories and Identifying Opportunities

Our first task was to establish well-balanced sales territories. By carefully analyzing the data, we crafted territories that ensured each sales representative had similar opportunities for success. These defined territories were set up to optimize efficiency and cater to the varying sizes of venues in different regions.

Step 2: Focusing on High-Potential Venues

Our client was keen on prioritizing their efforts and resources, so we highlighted venues with 20 or more courts within each territory. These high-capacity venues represented significant sales opportunities.

Step 3: Tapping into Mid-Range Potential

In addition to large venues, we also identified pickleball venues with 15 to 20 courts in each territory. These mid-range capacity venues provided a valuable sales target.

Step 4: Discovering Hidden Gems: Venues with 10-15 Courts

In our quest to provide our client with a holistic view of the pickleball landscape, we didn't stop at the larger venues. Understanding that smaller venues can be equally valuable in driving sales, we delved into those with 10 to 15 courts within each territory.

Step 5: Expanding the Scope

Thrilled with the initial results, our client asked us to take it a step further. They were interested in knowing the locations of 55+ communities being built in the United States in 2023 and how they related to pickleball venues.

A New Dimension: Overlaying 55+ Communities

Incorporating data on 55+ communities into our analysis, we unveiled new insights that would be invaluable for our client. The map below showcases the pickleball venues (yellow markers) and the locations of the 55+ communities (dark blue markers) on a single map.

Delivering Comprehensive Solutions

Our final deliverable to the client included not only the geospatial map but also a detailed report. For each pickleball venue, we provided the name, the number of courts available, and their contact information. For the 55+ communities, we included the name of the community, the building company, address, along with the designated sales representative's name and phone number. Armed with this comprehensive data, our client was empowered to make strategic decisions with confidence.

The Power of Data-Driven Decision Making

Our data analysis and geospatial mapping have provided our client with an all-encompassing view of the pickleball landscape. By strategically combining insights from venues of varying sizes and locations, our client can devise a sales strategy that effectively targets a diverse customer base.

It's essential to remember that sales territories and market dynamics are fluid and can change over time. Regularly revisiting the data and updating the sales plan will ensure our client stays ahead of the competition and capitalizes on emerging opportunities.
